If you have physical limitations or problems then you should be making changes around your house to make things as easy as possible on you. There are some big changes you can make in your bathroom that will really help you. These changes include:
Have a walk-in shower or a walk-in tub installed
If you are more of a shower type of person then you should consider having a walk-in shower put in the bathroom. You want to make sure it has a seat built in to it so you can sit when you need to without needing to worry about lugging a bulky shower chair in with you. You also want to make sure it has a handheld shower head with a long hose. This way, you can continue cleaning yourself while you are sitting. You will also want to have abrasive flooring put in the bottom of the shower so you won't have to worry about slipping while you are in it. Grab bars are also a good idea so you can grab onto them when you need a little help to stay balanced, or to get help sitting down and getting up from the seat.
If you like to take baths, a walk-in tub may be more your style. You can easily enter right through the door and sit in the comfortable seat that has texturing to help keep you from sliding off of it. These seats can even be heated which can be a true blessing for someone with a lot of aches and pains.
Have a textured flooring installed
If you have flooring in your bathroom that gets slippery when it's wet, the way most glossy tile floors do, then you should have it replaced with flooring that has more of a texture to it. There are some tiles that are made of natural stone that would be a good choice because they offer you plenty of traction, even when they get wet. If you'd like to keep the slippery flooring you currently have installed, then you can put texture on it that will dry clear but make the floor much less slippery.
Have a heat lamp installed
Installing a heat lamp can even help you in a couple of different ways. If you have physical problems then you probably hurt more when you get cold. The heat lap will warm the bathroom up for you quickly to alleviate some of that pain. The heat lamp will also help by helping you to dry off much faster. This means less time that you will have to remain standing in your bathroom while you towel off.
